A rematch between former Presidents Donald Trump and Joe Biden is an extraordinary opportunity for the American people. The only time two candidates who served as President ever faced off was Democrat Grover Cleveland vs Republican Benjamin Harrison. In this case the Republican, Trump, is trying to pull off what Grover Cleveland did in 1892- beat his former opponent he lost to. Having two former presidents faced off in such a direct manner, allowing for a unique comparison of their respective leadership styles, policies, and legacies. This rematch presents a once-in-a-lifetime chance for voters to assess and decide which of these two vastly different leaders they believe was better for the country. In short, which Presidency was better for you.

Donald Trump implemented significant policy changes during his presidency. He enacted tax cuts, massive deregulation reforms, closed the border his last year in office, did not enter the US into any new wars, left the middle east as peaceful as it has ever been in our lifetime, among other things. Trump’s supporters praise his efforts to strengthen the economy and his “America First” foreign policy stance. And yes, like any administration there were shortcomings.
On the other hand, Joe Biden’s presidency has been marked by a stark departure from his predecessor’s approach. Biden has prioritized issues such as combating climate change, student loan bailouts, advancing LGBTQ reforms such as effectively repealing title IX to allow men to compete in women sports. On immigration, Biden repealed Trump immigration reforms, policies like the remain in Mexico policy and other border enforcement policies Trump championed. Biden is also promising in a second term to not reinstate the Trump tax cuts which are set to expire in the next President term.
A rematch between Trump and Biden would provide voters with a clear contrast between two distinct visions for the country. It would allow for an evaluation of their accomplishments and failures during their time in office. Additionally, it would offer an opportunity to reflect on the direction in which the country is headed and the values that Americans prioritize in their leaders. Voters will have the ability to look at the four years of each Presidency and ask which one was better.
Recent polling from CNN shows voters prefer the policies and outcomes of the Trump Presidency. In the poll, 55% of Americans see the Trump Presidency as a success, and 44% see it as a failure. For Biden only 39% of Americans see his term in office as a success, and 61% seeing it as a failure. As you would imagine, the economy is what is hurting Biden the most. Voters feel the pre-covid economy under Trump served them far better than the post-Covid Biden Presidency.
In the end, a Trump-Biden rematch would not only be a historic event but also a crucial moment for voters. Often voters can only guess what a President will do while in office, now we have two candidates who were/are President. So far, voters prefer the Trump Presidency. This historic election would allow voters to make an informed decision about the direction they want the country to take and which former president they believe was better suited to lead the nation.
