Curtis Jackson, also known by the stagename ‘50 Cent’, has offered Democrat Socialist Mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani hard cash and a first class plane ticket to leave New York.
In a since deleted Instagram post, the rapper offered the Democrat candidate, ‘258,750 dollars and a first class one way ticket away from NY,’ while also mentioning he would ‘tell on’ Mamdani with President Donald Trump.
Mamdani appeared on The Breakfast Club before the NYC Mayoral primary, where the state Assemblymember from Queens defended his plan to raise taxes on millionaires. Mamdani ended up securing the Democratic nomination.
‘I know if 50 Cent is listening, he’s not going to be happy about this,’ Mamdani said in the interview, referencing his proposal to impose an additional 2 percent tax on individuals making $1 million or more. ‘But I want to be very clear this is about $20,000 a year,’ doubling down on his plan.
Trump also weighed in on Truth Social, calling Mamdani a ‘100 percent Communist lunatic’ and lumping him in with other politicians from New York such as AOC and Chuck Schumer. (RELATED: Trump’s Blue-Collar Wage Boom Credited to Reduced Immigration and Revived Manufacturing)
Mamdani’s plan faces criticism from within his own party as well. Gov. Kathy Hochul appeared to distance herself from Mamdani following the rapper’s post. ‘I’m focused on affordability and raising taxes on anyone does not accomplish that,’ when asked by reporters at an event at LaGuardia Airport. She also declined to commit to endorsing Mamdani’s mayoral bid.
50 Cent’s proposal reflects a larger and growing concern in New York with Mamdani’s nomination for the Democratic nominee for Mayor. (RELATED: Milwaukee Police Slayer Had History of Violence)
