One day after the White House took aim at The View, co-host Joy Behar announced the show’s upcoming hiatus—then quickly turned to someone off camera to ask if she was allowed to share that information, sparking widespread speculation.

During the July 23 episode, Behar told viewers that President Donald Trump is jealous of former President Barack Obama, commenting on his appearance and marriage. Assistant White House Press Secretary Taylor Rogers responded to the remarks from the ABC show, pointing to Behar’s “severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome”.

Following a suggestion by a White House spokesperson that The View should be taken off the air, Behar’s announcement about the show’s hiatus drew attention online. The moment became even more notable when she asked someone off camera whether she was allowed to say it, prompting co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin to respond, “Too late now.”

The timing of the announcement, along with Behar’s warning to viewers that “the tide is turning” and “things are changing”, referring to the MAGA crowd’s growing frustration with Trump—felt like an eleventh-hour message, leaving viewers to wonder whether something deeper could be going on.

The View historically takes a break around this time each year and has one episode remaining before the scheduled hiatus. Later in the broadcast, co-host Whoopi Goldberg confirmed the show would air one more episode before the break and return in September for the new season. (RELATED: Bombshell Intelligence Report Implicates Hillary Clinton in Health-Related Coverup)

The timing of the White House comments, coupled with the seemingly off-the-cuff nature of Behar’s announcement, caught the attention of conservatives online—many of whom have long criticized the ABC program and expressed hope that the hiatus will become permanent.

The View is in its 28th season with the final episode airing Friday, July 25.
