A 40-year-old Rufus King High School teacher, Erica Allemang-Reinke, has been charged with four felony counts of sexual misconduct by school staff, following a months-long investigation into allegations of inappropriate behavior involving members of the boys’ basketball team.
According to the criminal complaint filed April 21 in Milwaukee County Circuit Court, Allemang-Reinke engaged in a pattern of troubling conduct between September 2024 and April 2025. Students allege she sent them cash and gifts via Cash App, texted them late at night, and made sexually suggestive remarks. In one instance, a student said Allemang-Reinke described a dream involving sex between the two. Another said she caressed his inner thigh and tried to sit on his lap. The complaint details similar behavior involving at least four students.
“She mentally overpowered us,” one student told investigators, describing emotional manipulation and a breach of trust that has rattled the school community.
An arrest warrant was issued April 21. Allemang-Reinke has not responded to media inquiries. Her educator license is now under review by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
Milwaukee Public Schools confirmed the teacher is no longer active at Rufus King while investigations are ongoing. Principal Doreen Badillo previously informed parents of the internal probe but did not name the teacher.
Parents are expressing outrage and concern, with some hiring attorney B’Ivory LaMarr, who praised law enforcement’s quick action but raised questions about whether warning signs were ignored by the school.
The case has become a flashpoint in Milwaukee, highlighting not only the allegations themselves but also the responsibilities of school systems to detect and act on behavioral red flags. No court hearing has been scheduled as of April 24.
