On Sunday, the Milwaukee Brewers held a ceremony before their game against the Giants, for Bob Uecker, legendary Brewers announcer who passed away earlier this year.

The ceremony started at 12:00, and lasted over an hour before the game slated to begin at 1:10. As the ceremony proceeded, Brewers legends from Uecker’s life gave testimonials about his impact on their life, and baseball. Joined by Hall of Famers George Brett, Ted Simmons, Robin Yount, and current Brewers star Christian Yelich.

Hosted almost like a late night show, Bob Costas sat at a desk while he asked questions and held conversations with the various people who were brought up. Taking intermittent breaks in between, the video board would play various tributes to Bob for all his walks of life. From his staring on Mr. Belvedere, to his over 100 appearances on Johnny Carson and earning the name, Mr. Baseball.

In their eventual loss to the Giants, the Brewers played themed tributes and games in between innings to commemorate Uecker. Including bringing back his studio buddy from Major League, Skip Griparis who played Monty.

The Brewers also replaced every player’s last name with “Ueck” across the top of the jersey. The players revealed their jerseys as they came out to support Bobby Uecker Jr. to throw out the first pitch. The organization also commemorated Uecker with special baseballs and bases used during the game.

Costas wrapped up the ceremony thanking the Brewers fans in attendance, and thanking the Brewers for putting together the celebration. Then wrapped it up the ceremony with one final farewell, ending with a flyover of the VA cemetery next door, where Uecker now resides.
