The Milwaukee Bucks waived former All-Star point guard Damian Lillard to make space to acquire free agent center Myles Turner according to ESPN.

Turner agreed to sign with the Bucks on a 4-year, $107 million deal with a player option on the final year of the contract which will come in 2028-29.

Lillard’s two year stint in Milwaukee came to an end after the seven-time All-Star suffered a torn Achilles tendon which he underwent surgery for in May. During his time with the Bucks, Lillard averaged 24.6 points per game, seven assists and 4.5 rebounds.

Despite being waived from the team, Lillard will still be paid out the $113 million remaining on his current deal. However, since the Bucks released him prior to Aug. 29 the team will be able to utilize the “stretch provision” in the CBA to extend his remaining two years to five, meaning Lillard will now be owed $22.5 million per year.

As he recovers from surgery, Lillard will rehab with his family back in Portland where he played his first 11 seasons with the Trail Blazers. (RELATED: Milwaukee Bucks Resign Bobby Portis to 3-year $44 million deal)

After spending the first 10 years of his career with the Indiana Pacers, and playing a key role in its run to the NBA Finals, Turner will add to a formidable front court alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Turner had originally wished to remain in Indiana following its loss in Game 7 to the Oklahoma City Thunder, but management instead opted to not enter the luxury tax and let him walk. (RELATED: 50 Cent Wants Mamdani Gone – Offers Cash And First Class Ticket To Leave New York)

Throughout his career, Turner has averaged 14.1 points per game, 6.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 2.2 blocks. Last season, the 29-year-old shot a career best 39.6% from the 3-point line in 2025 and posted a franchise record of 46 blocks during the postseason.

With a thin free agent market the Bucks’ front office, led by general manager Jon Horst and CAA co-head of basketball Austin Brown, are aggressively reshaping the roster to build another contender around Antetokounmpo.
