On Thursday, Secretary Scott Turner and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development announced a wave of new appointments, including an appointment for the former Wisconsin state lawmaker, Duey Stroebel for Midwest Regional Administrator.

“It is a great honor to be appointed the Director of HUD  Region 5 . I will work hard and make the most of this opportunity to serve our country and help create housing opportunities for all,” said Stroebel via X.

Stroebel served on the State Assembly for the 60th district from 2011 to 2015. He then sought out the U.S. Representative seat that was coming up for election in the 2014 cycle. Stroebel was defeated in the primaries by Glenn Grothman. Stroebel then ran for Grothman’s now vacated State Senate seat, and was a state senator from 2015 to 2025. During his time in the State Legislature, he served as the Vice Chair on the Finance Committee. He also operated a real estate business from 2007-2012. (RELATED: Back the Blue Budget: Wisconsin Republicans Beef Up Law Enforcement, Dems Say No)
