When Nancy Marseo, general manager and seasoned bartender at Bryant’s on the Round in Okauchee, was challenged by her representative at Badger Liquor to invent a cocktail using Three Olives Blueberry Vodka, she enthusiastically embraced the task.
Selected as one of six to innovate a new drink, Marseo’s creation, the Louie Bluooze, will now be the featured cocktail at Lake Country DockHounds’ home games at Wisconsin Brewing Company Park in Oconomowoc.
Marseo decided to complement the blueberry vodka with flavors that would enhance its profile. After some research, she selected lavender cocktail syrup, lemonade, and mint to create a refreshing mix, perfect for enjoying during a warm baseball game. The cocktail is named after Louie, the DockHounds’ canine mascot, capturing the spirit of both the team and the community.
“It is just refreshing. For a hot game at the ballgame, people get sick of drinking beer,” Marseo explained, noting the demand for alternatives to overly sweet beverages at sporting events. The Louie Bluooze has already been a hit at Bryant’s, where customers have praised the carefully crafted drink.
Having started bartending at the age of 18, Marseo relishes the opportunity to offer something novel to her customers, saying, “It’s fun. You get sick of doing the same old thing like whiskey and Coke.” She also noted the growing trend of mocktails, which calls for creativity in mixing flavors without alcohol.
However, fans eager to try the Louie Bluooze will have to wait a bit longer. Bryant’s on the Round is temporarily closed for remodeling and menu updates from Monday through May 12. The restaurant will reopen on May 13 at 3 p.m., just in time to serve up the new concoction. Similarly, the season home opener for the DockHounds is scheduled for May 10-12, promising to introduce fans to their new game-day refreshment.
