“Serving as your mayor for the past five-and-a-half years has been one of the greatest honors of my life,” Magnus said in a letter. “This choice follows much reflection and comes with sincere appreciation for the trust you have placed in me and pride in what we have accomplished together.”

“After discussion with my family and receiving significant support from the community, I have decided to run for mayor,” Rosek said in his announcement. “My goals for the city are simple: keep Oconomowoc a safe and vibrant community and provide consistent leadership as we navigate our place in Lake Country. We should strive to maintain good relationships with our neighbors and endeavor to make Oconomowoc a great place to live, work and play.”

Matt Rosek is running on these four goals:

  • Low taxes by keeping the budget under control with no unnecessary spending, no new taxes be they a wheel tax or other fees and reduction of debt.
  • Responsible development to increase the tax base and provide services and goods citizens demand while also preserving what makes Oconomowoc special.
  • Transparent and responsive government by increasing the city’s communication with residents, inviting participation and making decisions after robust public input.
  • Strong public safety with effective and efficient police, fire and EMS services.
