Pizza to the Polls is planning a beach party across three of Milwaukee’s beaches—Bradford Beach, McKinley Beach, and South Shore Beach—offering free pizza in exchange for voter registration. While the organization claims to be nonpartisan, it primarily organizes events in deep blue districts, raising questions about its true intentions.
Support from openly liberal celebrities has further fueled speculation about the organization’s political leanings. Pizza to the Polls has previously sponsored events like the Music Votes webinar, co-sponsored by the left-leaning Hip Hop Caucus and The Equity Alliance, adding to the perception of partisanship.
In their mission statement, Pizza to the Polls describes its origins in volunteering at COVID-19 vaccine sites, which led to the creation of the Vax & Snacks program. Partnering with Slice Out Hunger, C.O.R.E., Slice, and Wetzel’s Pretzels, the organization fed hundreds of people in California, Georgia, and South Carolina. Critics argue that this effort was a veiled attempt to bribe people into receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.
This controversy leaves many wondering if left-wing organizations are effectively buying votes with pizza and other incentives. As the beach party approaches, the debate over the true motives of Pizza to the Polls continues to heat up in Milwaukee.
