A Rhode Island prosecutor was arrested last week in a viral confrontation with police officers where she can be heard saying that they will ‘regret’ their decision.
Police were called after Rhode Island Special Assistant Attorney General Devon Hogan Flanagan and a friend were asked to leave Clarke Cook House in Newport. It is not immediately clear why Flanagan and her friend were asked to leave.
Hogan Flanagan immediately began making demands of the officers upon their arrival, telling them to turn their body cameras off.
The officer on the scene urged Flanagan and her friend to leave repeatedly to avoid arrest, but both refused. After consulting an employee at the business, the officer proceeded to arrest Flanagan.
Do you just want them out? Do you want them trespassed?” “Anything we can do. Trespass, yes,” the employee said. (RELATED: Mayor of Milwaukee Chooses Convicted Murderer to Lead ‘Violence Prevention Office’)
Flagan’s attempt to use her role in the Attorney General’s office to avoid arrest quickly drew outrage on social media.
Flagan and her friend repeatedly told the officer that she was a lawyer, with Flagan telling an officer that he was going to ‘regret’ arresting her and repeatedly shouting that she was an Attorney General.
The Rhode Island Attorney General’s office said they were investigating the incident but had no further comment as the arrest was related to ‘personnel issues’. (RELATED: Laundry List of Prominent Politicians Subpoenaed in Epstein Probe)
“On the evening of Aug. 14, the Office of the Attorney General learned that members of the Newport Police Department arrested Special Assistant Attorney General Devon Flanagan for trespassing,” Megan Skinner, a spokesperson for the Attorney General’s Office, said Friday, according to The Boston Globe.
