Waukesha State Assembly Rep. Earns Police Support Ahead Of Mayoral Race
State Assembly Representative Scott Allen pushes for Waukesha mayoral race
Published September 7, 2025

In May, Waukesha’s primary State Assembly Rep. Scott Allen announced he would be running for the Waukesha Mayor’s Seat.

Current Mayor Shawn Reilly announced he would not be seeking a 4th term, as he previously mentioned earlier in his 3rd term. Likely due to the fact he endorsed President Harris in the 2024 Presidential Election as the mayor of the largest Republican county in Wisconsin.

Scott Allen is a 6 term-serving Assembly Representative for the Waukesha area. First taking office in 2015, Allen has been the Representative for Waukesha County for the past decade earning 6 re-elections to his seat, with his current term ending in 2027. Allen feels that his city’s financial situation must be addressed. (RELATED: Waukesha Lawmakers Demand More Prosecutors Amid Soaring Caseloads)

Allen points to the city’s budget and finances as one of the first problems he plans to tackle.   “When I started looking at the (mayoral seat), I wanted to know what are  we going to have to deal with, what’s coming up, what’s on the horizon, what are the challenges we’ll face,” he said. “I looked at the reporting on the city’s last budget and the city’s financial management plan,” said Allen in a phone interview with Milwaukee Journal Sentinel back in early May.

In August, the former Waukesha Police Chief Arnold Moncada, and current Waukesha Police Chief Eric Severson endorsed Representative Allen for the mayoral seat. “Scott has been a dedicated servant of the community for years,” said Moncada, “and I know he’s committed to public safety.” According to Severson, Allen “has consistently come down on the side of law enforcement.”

While the current mayoral race currently doesn’t seem to have a materialized candidate to run against Allen, if Allen loses he will run again in 2027 for his Assembly seat and will not run for the Assembly seat again if elected Mayor.

Assembly seat challenger Kevin Reilly, will once again try to win the 82nd District seat against Allen. Brother of soon-to-be former mayor Shawn Reilly, he mentions his “strong roots” within the Waukesha community for his reason to seek the seat again. Reilly lost in the 2024 election to Allen by a 57%-43% margin. (RELATED: Back the Blue Budget: Wisconsin Republicans Beef Up Law Enforcement, Dems Say No)
