Businessman’s Conservative Bonafides Questioned in New Wisconsin Governor Bid
Berrien’s anti-Trump statements draw his credibility in to question among the conservative grassroots

Grassroots conservatives immediately sounded the alarm after Republican businessman Bill Berrien announced his bid for Wisconsin Governor on Wednesday, expressing concerns over his anti-Trump rhetoric and past support for Nikki Haley in the 2024 Presidential primary.

Berrien announced that he was entering the fray in to the Gubernatorial race on Wednesday, touting his business background and opposition to incumbent Tony Evers ‘tax and spend’ agenda.

“I’m an outsider. I’m a businessman, just like President Trump,” Berrien said. “He’s taking back Washington. We need to take back Madison for Wisconsinites.”

In addition to comparing himself to the Republican President, Berrien’s initial campaign advertisement prominently features Trump, where he says that Trump is ‘taking back Washington for the American people’.

While Berrien was quick to associate himself with President Donald Trump, his past statements and associations indicate that he has not always supported him. (RELATED: Disgraced Judge’s Trial Likely To Proceed)

In An August 2020 interview with Fox News Digital, Berrien refused to commit to voting for President Trump over Joe Biden and Kamala Harris as late as August, saying that he was interested in hearing their ideas.

He also criticized Trump for his ‘anti-science’ approach to the Covid-19 pandemic. (RELATED: Kamala Harris’ ‘Bacon As A Spice’ Comment Killed Interview, Influencer Says)

In addition to his past and current critical statements of Trump, Berrien vocally supported Trump’s opponent, Nikki Haley, in the 2024 Republican Presidential primary.

During the primary, Berrien donated over $30,000 to Haley and only began donating to President Trump’s campaign in September, well after the primary was over and less than two months before the general election.
